The Ancient Art of Dokra

Welcome to our world of authentic Dokra art — India's oldest known handicraft tradition, with roots stretching back over 4,000 years. Rooted in the heart of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Dokra is a living heritage that has been passed down through generations of master artisans, preserving a legacy that predates written history.

The Dokra Process

Every piece of Dokra art is crafted using the ancient lost-wax casting (cire perdue) technique — a process that has remained virtually unchanged for millennia. Each creation begins as a vision in the hands of our artisans, who shape beeswax and resin into intricate forms. The wax model is then encased in layers of clay and fired, allowing the molten brass or bell metal to take its place. Once cooled, the clay mould is broken open to reveal a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Because each mould is destroyed in the process, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

Handmade with Heritage

Every single product in our collection is entirely handmade by skilled artisans. There are no machines, no moulds reused, no mass production — only patient hands, generational knowledge, and great pride in craft. When you bring home a piece of Dokra art, you are carrying forward a tradition that is among the oldest in the world.

Natural Variations — A Mark of Authenticity

Because our pieces are handcrafted individually, each product carries its own natural variations in texture, finish, and form. These are not imperfections — they are the fingerprints of the artisan, proof of the human touch behind every creation. No two pieces will look identical, making every Dokra artwork a truly unique treasure.

We celebrate these variations as a mark of authenticity, and we invite you to embrace them as part of owning something genuinely handmade.
